Asador Singapore - decent Spanish restaurant at Joo Chiat!
"Asador Singapore" is quite new Spanish restaurant at Joo Chiat. (51 Joo Chiat Pl, Singapore 427775)
Our visit was Thursday dinner and surprisingly it was really empty. I imagine this place would get crowded on Friday and in weekends. Below is what we ordered:
Huevos Rotos (Hand cut frites with chorizo & egg yolk) $16, Pulpo (Octopus with roasted sweet potato & olives) $34
Fries were safe option, but turned out really creative dish. Although it was quite soggy, it was good. Pulpo was fresh and tasty, that sweet potato was interesting, you should try it (tastes different from what you see).
Cerdo Ibérico (Grilled pork, green apple purée & braised fennel) $48, Ensaladilla (Potato salad with tuna belly & sea urchin on toast (2 pieces)) $16
Ensaladilla was a bomb! I thought it will be a light starter but that potato salad was really thick and flavourful and I could really taste sea urchin! Cerdo Iberico was a safe option, good enough.
They have super wide selection of wine menu here
We had a glass of wine each and had to hold... because... Asador has a hidden cocktail bar inside!
When you open a hidden door (you will find out!) you will enter this cozy but stunning cocktail bar! We tried Sbagliato-nic, Straits Tyme, Melon Sangria, Smoked Sazerac and White Negroni - priced around $23 - $28 each.
The best of the night was Smoked Sazerac, it's different and really smooth to drink!
Overall it was super pleasant dinner. Flavourful Spanish dish (though pricey), good service and interesting bar!
If you live or get to travel to east, you should check this place out. Let me know if you like the place!
