How to choose best preschool in Singapore for your kid!

Disclaimer - I am not going to mention any specific preschool names because below is based on my personal experience.

TLDR - physical visit will help you decide the best preschool in Sinagpore for your kid!

  1. Choose between local vs international preschool.
  • Local preschool: cheaper monthly fee (especially for locals with subsidy); both Chinese and English could be covered; meals are just standard; usually more towards academic focused
  • International preschool: many run by international schools; if you are planning for international schools, this will be a starting point; if you specifically want your kid to get American or English accent; expensive fees; better meals

  1. Choose between academic (language, math etc) focus or experience / play focus
  • Each preschool has different focus. This will narrow down your list.

  1. Choose between pre nursery (playgroup) or nursery & kindergarten
  2. Make a list of popular preschools, that will be less than 10. Google if there is any branch near your place (within 10 min walking distance is the best, or the shuttle availability)
  3. When you find those nearby, physically visit those.
  4. For international preschools - take note of open house dates, and physically visit them.
  5. Refer to ratings and reviews on google. If you are looking for preschools with less academic focus, you may want to skip those with reviews - “my kids can now speak 3 different languages!”

Note:

  • Branches under the same brand might have different environment.
  • Popularity of preschools might change every few years.

General preschool fees in Singapore

  • Local preschool: $1,200-$1,500
  • International preschool: depends, starts from ~ $2000 up to  $6000 + (need to check individual pricings)

Hope this helps! If you have better and more tips, please leave in the comment for other mums and dads! thanks
